Nury Turkel is a Uyghur Muslim attorney who currently serves as Chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) after being appointed by U.S. Congressional House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in May 2020. He has testified before the US Congress, speaking about Uyghur Muslim internment camps, and advocating a legislative response to China’s atrocities.
