Nearly 18 years later, the U.S. is still entangled in military action in the Middle East and beyond. The Dutch parliament on Thursday passed a non-binding motion saying the treatment of the Muslim Uighur minority in China amounted to genocide, the first such move by a European country. “A genocide on the Uighur minority is occurring in China,” the Dutch motion said, stopping short of directly saying that the Chinese government was responsible. read the complete article

Purim celebrates a thwarted genocide. Honor its message, and commit to aiding the Uyghurs.

Raphael Lemkin, the Holocaust refugee who coined the term “genocide,” once wrote of Jewish history that “A line, from blood, led from the Roman arena through the gallows of France to the pogrom of Bialystok.” This Purim, we must remember the terrifying facts of genocide that have followed us through our history — and act to help those subject to that terror today. read the complete article

CPAC speaker called out for anti-Muslim sentiments, and that's only scratching the surface of this year's spectacle

CAIR's condemnation of Presler follows on the heels of CPAC itself canceling an appearance by online commentator Young Pharaoh at their "America Uncanceled"-themed conference after Media Matters unearthed multitudes of anti-Semitic comments and tweets. Presler and Young Pharaoh aren't in the least outliers on the CPAC 2021 roster. Putting aside the speakers who are elected members of congress who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election — like Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Josh Hawley, Rep. Matt Gaetz and Rep. Jim Jordan — or are QAnon enthusiasts like Rep. Lauren Boebert or anti-maskers like South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, the lineup is a rogues gallery of conspiracy theorists, COVID-deniers and enthusiastic proponents of Trump's election lies. read the complete article

Laura Loomer, a self-described "proud Islamophobe," is making another bid for Congress, and she's already gained support from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a freshman Republican who's garnered national attention for her own controversial comments. A controversial face in the Republican Party, Loomer's described Islam as a "cancer on humanity" and has been banned from various social media platforms, as well as ride-share apps, for her comments about Muslims. read the complete article

In Pictures: A year on, justice eludes victims of Delhi violence

Adding to the sense of injustice is that accounts from Muslim victims as well as reports from rights groups have indicated that leaders of Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party and the New Delhi police force tacitly supported the Hindu mobs during the fevered violence. A year on, many Muslim victims of the riots are still fear further bloodletting. Hundreds have abandoned their gutted homes and moved elsewhere, many forced to sell up at throwaway prices. Those who chose to stay have fortified their neighbourhoods with metal gates in case of more mob attacks. Many say they fear those responsible will never be held to account. read the complete article

Why Christo-Racist Nationalism and Anti-Muslim Rhetoric Are Gaining Ground in Kerala (

The solo Indian flag that made an appearance among the vast swathe of Trump supporters storming the Capitol building in Washington D.C. recently, caught the attention of many. It was even more of a surprise when it was revealed that a Malayali Christian named Vinson Palathingal was responsible for it. However, truth be told, Palathingal is just one of the many Malayali Christians who are fervent advocates of the Christo-racist nationalism represented and championed by Donald Trump and his band of supporters. For those wondering how an exclusivist White supremacist anti-Muslim ideology and rhetoric that underpins Trumpian politics appeals to these migrants and their ilk from the Global South, the answer may be found in the latter’s own social location within the Kerala society in India. read the complete article
